Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe which also serves as the headquarter for Busoga diocese was curved out from Namirembe Diocese on 13th/August/1972.
The state- of- the art Cathedral siting on 50 acres of land stands high on a hill overlooking Bugembe Trading Center.
The idea to construct the Cathedral was conceived by the first African Archdeacon of Busoga Archdeaconary the late Rev. Can. John Waibale in 1952 during hid stay in Great Britain though the construction work started in 1969 and completed in1972
Since its inception, the Cathedral has been under three Bishops
The first Bishop was the late Rt. Rev. Dr. Cyprian Bamwoze who was consecrated in 1972 upto 1999 when he retired/
The second Bishop was the Rt Rev. Dr. Micheal Kyomya was consecrated in 2000 upto 2015 when he retired.
The third Bishop is the Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Samson Naimanhye Mukembo and is still the Bishop of Busoga Diocese and Dean of Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe.
